Obituary for Essica Yakara Ruff

A time to be born…
July 10, 1974 Essica Yakara “Yaki” Ruff was born in Mount Kisco, New York to Herbert & Bernadine Ruff.

A time to grow…
She attended elementary school in Raleigh, North Carolina, junior high and high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado to study political science along with a technical school for computer technology. She later studied surgical technology in Baltimore, Maryland.

A time to work…
During her younger days Yaki served as a computer technologist for Northern Telecom. She went on to work the trauma unit at Baltimore Trauma Center and several hospitals in the surrounding area then traveled to Oregon, Louisiana, and Texas as a surgical tech. In 2017 she moved to Mississippi where she began working at Forrest General Hospital as a surgical tech and was promoted and worked as Manager of Central Supply until her death.

A time to love…
In 2014 God blessed Yaki with the love and joy of her life, her son Gabriel.

A time to serve…
Yaki was baptized at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She served in the choir and Sunday school. As she traveled she attended multiple churches never veering from her faith. After moving to Hattiesburg, Mississippi she attended New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
A time to demise…
God embraced Essica Yakara Ruff better known as “Yaki” and “Kara” in his arms and enfolded her in his love on February 12, 2019, at which time she quietly departed from this life.
A time to remember…
Yaki was proceeded in death by her paternal and maternal great-grandparents and grandparents. Five aunts, and one uncle.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son Gabriel A. Ruff; Parents, Herbert and Bernadine Ruff; Sisters, Sabrina Jackson and Nanette Williams; Brother, Alan Keith Ruff; Nieces, Kyara, Anisha, and Allison; Nephews, Lejon and Andrew; three aunts, four uncles, 25 first cousins, a host of second cousins and other close relatives along with many devoted friends and special friend Robert.
